I recently stumbled upon a website called 16personalities. It lets you take a personality test to get a description of who you are and why you do things the way you do. I’m usually wary of such sites that claim to do so, especially if they’re not scientifically grounded. Not this one though. Hesitant, I went ahead and took the 10-minutes test. The result was a complete profile of my personality, tendencies and motivations. To say that what I read was “freakishly accurate” is an understatement. And it’s not the kind of generic stuff that can work for everybody; it’s as if someone had been accurately observing my thoughts, feelings, and actions all my life and had a better talent of putting all that into words.
The reason I mention this is that reading into my profile (which by the way is the INFJ Personality, commonly called “The Advocate”
, I now completely understand my motivations for making these mixes for you guys. I used to explain the reason I spend all these hours is because I enjoy the creative process of a hobby that fills my time, but it turns out it goes deeper than that.
In fact, my personality is the kind of one that has inborn sense of idealism and morality. We are dreamers who are still capable of taking concrete steps to realize our goals and make a lasting positive impact. This has been the underlying thread that made me start this project in the first place. My intention has always been to harness the power of music into mixes that somehow makes you feel better and let’s you have a more positive outlook in life.
This mix is all about that.
