After I was reminded of this year's SXSW get-together and listened to the 100 songs posted online by NPR to celebrate it, I looked for prior years' collections and found 2014-2017 were still available, which was all the encouragement I needed to add a few more sets focused on this annual event as companions to the original "Years of Cool" set. Selections from this huge amount of material fell into three loosely-themed sets, based around the vibes of longing, love and liberty. This is the LONGING set.
“Loneliness” was the original concept, but that’s really just about other human/animal companionship, whereas you could be LONGING for so many things, including company, but also money, culture, respect, political stability, an economy that finds a niche for every willing participant.... You get me.
Great work here from Adam Torres and Christopher Paul Stelling in particular, but this is just 14 out of 400 tracks, which I encourage you to check out for yourselves.
Hey Gayle! Also very good music! Many thanks for it! I have really enjoyed it!

According to Google, the Austin TX SXSW festival was first fielded in 1987, which by now equals 30 years of cool, making it older than many of the attendees. At some point, NPR (& SPIN in 2011) started making available 100 songs by artists who performed each year; I heard about that bounty in 2009, and occasionally downloaded the SXSW100, but never crafted a set out of those tunes, so I’m correcting that oversight now.
Out of 3 years’ worth of music (2011, 13 & 18), I selected 22 tracks that give an idea of what attendees (and of course, NPR listeners) could hear. (Each 100 also included some hard rock/shredding for those who would seek it out, but none of that made the cut here.) Except for Julianna Barwick, there wasn’t an artist I'd heard before, which is odd b/c it’s an impressive bunch ... oh & btw, where else but SXSW could you expect to hear a pop tune based on the legend of Orpheus & Eurydice?

Just like longing, LOVE has some range also: happy, sad, dubious, looking forward, looking back ... So much poetry, so many songs are about love in some way, right?
Great tunes here which cover just about all that range, but this is just 15 out of 400 tracks, which I encourage you to check out for yourselves.

Welcome all people, hello friends and fans again!
So the tracks in this mix are all bought BRANDNEW at TRAXSOURCE! I haven't found real good stuff either on Beatport or on dj - shop.de or on dj - tunes or on other dj platforms this time, but these tracks are it worth to be played I think!
The tracks weren't produced in the same bpm again and nearly ALL in different keys, so I have set many cue points and LOOP PATCHES with the Traktor Kontrol S8 BEFORE I have played the set LIVE to mix this difficult stuff!
Furthermore I have recorded many loops FROM THE TRACKS + some other loops and have placed them in two remix decks and have mixed them additional all together LIVE! In addition with some effects.
Then I have worked with the recorded LIVE tape in a DAW. Because the tracks are produced loooooong and special for clubs I have removed very long parts there and have cut the tape at some places. And to improve transitions and parts I have done this in the DAW.
Ok, here is the playlist of this tape (+ all the many, many loops and effects in track - and remix decks):
1. Inner City - Good Life 2018 - Extended Mix
2. Adri Block, Chris Marina - Love Somebody - Original Mix
3. Paolo Bardelli, Alan Junior - Groovy - Original Mix
4. Soulsearcher - Can't Get Enough - Vocal Club Mix
5. Ten City - My Peace Of Heaven - Demo Mix
6. Fish Go Deep - The Cure And The Cause - Balearic Soul Mix
7. Danny Cruz - To Be Real - Original Mix
8. Block & Crown - Spend Some Time With U - Clubmix
9. DJ Mes - Marchand De Sable - Original Mix
10. Block & Crown - Risin - Original Mix
11. ATFC - I Feel The Earth Move - Original Mix
12. Mistura, Bridgett Grace, Shur - I Kan - Love To The Limit - Shur I Kan Clubmix
13. Wolves By Night - Playing Around - Original Mix
14. SAMO - Stop Messing - Original Mix
15. Kanormali, Frank Cano - Shake A Little Funk - Franks Structured Approach House Mix
16. Hatiras - Can't Go Back - Original Mix
17. Serge Funk - Can't Get Enough - Original Mix
There are CLUB MIXES in the tape, soulful house, vocal house and jacking house, important was that it has a phat groove and nice vocals. And that it was FUNKY! To hold the phat funky groove I have worked with that many, many loops!
And BERLIN? First it is the capital city of my homeland Germany, so it stands for the proud of my dj homeland and for me!
Secondly I would wish to hear this sound in a club in BERLIN and I would play it there to make the people DANCE! FUNK makes you dance automatic!
Ok, a thought of work! No? So then show me how YOU makes the people dance! Haha! 124 bpm mix.
Your DJ Mojito (DJ Holger Köster).
