This one takes you back to a time when some music was ... a little harder ... a bit faster ... but this music has epic melodies and fabulous sounds as well! This set takes you back to the early '90s, from about 1991 to 1996 ...
From energetic hardtrance to tweeking acid, from the typical German, Belgium and even UK breakbeat Rave sound to the happy version of hardcore; it's all included smile I my opinion all tracks in this set made a great contribution to what this style of music is all about, but some tracks even changed the way I listened to music; if you listen closely you might notice that a lot of these tracks are quite complex and have many layers of sounds and melodies that are perfectly balanced within the track. Great examples are Marusha's "Unique", Hitch Hiker & Jacques Dumondt's "Raindrops" and Cosmic Baby's "Loops Of Infinity".
But the guys who could achieve this the best in my opinion were Rolf Maier Bode and Farid Gharadjedaghi alias RMB; their debut album "This World Is Yours" is full of well composed, fast paced tracks. I've not only mixed in one of my all time favourites "Redemption" but at the end of the set another 5 tracks from their debut album: these track show why I like this kind of music so much! smile
This is a set I've planned to do for years, but for some reason never got round to actually do it smile Until a couple of weeks ago Dune (yes, "this one is dedicated to all the ravers in the nation"-Dune!smile played a great DJ-set at a local festival in my town; that was my trigger! smile
Enjoy!
