About Me
Br-e, real name Barry Heimerikx, developed his interest in music at an early age, with his mom working for the -then illegal- radio station Veronica. Having access to the 7" collection of his mom, he made his first attic radioshows on a Philips EL3527 and Dual Turntable.
A few years later, at the age of 14, he started his first radio show on a local station. This show was mainly focused on US/UK Import Disco and some HipHop on the side. From radio it was just a small step to start playing at school- and birthday-parties, and when a fellow DJ asked him to take over his residency at a small club he didn't hesitate for a second. Then 1986, the summer of love... A new sound... House!!! Love at the first tones, and slowly but surely Br-e moved away from his comfort zone and more and more into house.
After playing several years at clubs in his home town, duty called and life moved on... But old habits never die. The blood kept crawling and being pushed by some old mates he decided to pick up the headphones again. But, as an oldschool vinyl junkie, CD's just didn't feel right and while today's music is almost only being distributed on electronic media, this called for an all digital solution!
A visit to Midi Amsterdam confirmed his view on how proper house music should be played this days. Technology opens up new possibilities and Br-e's decision to play all digital was made then and there. Nowadays armed with a 4Midiloop Black Devil & Macbook, he is making things possible he could only dream about a few years back!!!
Recent gigs at OP, VET!, Chicken Skin @ Cue Bar, Crazyland, 420Sundaze and 420Sessions showed great responses from the crowd, and he only just started...
Br-e's style is a blend of deep, tech and techno, or for short, deeptechno.
